90% of writing is sitting down in a chair, and pushing yourself to write. It’s hard work, it’s emotional and you’ll find yourself wanting to bash your head against the keyboard every day.
There are times you might want to give up. I’ve felt it. But here’s what you need to remember if the thought ever crosses your mind:
Your stuff is going to suck. If you come to terms with that before you start, it’s not going to sideline you later.
There will be mistakes, and plot holes, and grammar issues. But there will also be genius, and magic and amazing ideas.
So focus on the good, and not the bad. Write that novel. Not only for yourself but for the readers you hope to emotionally crush.
Once a writer, always a writer. No matter how long it takes.
