How to world build for NaNoWriMo (or if you really hate doing it.)

midweekmotivation(3)

Worlbuilding is one of those things that you either love or hate. I’ve always wanted to WorldBuild but I struggle to focus enough to do it in as much detail as I would like to.

Worldbuilding can be overwhelming, especially to a new writer. There is a lot more to it than what your country is called, and if your MC lives near an ocean. You need to think about history and culture, religion, trade, government and military and so much more. It takes time and it takes determination.

To continue prep for NaNoWriMo, I’ve put together the 5 (or 6) most basic elements you need for Worldbuilding to see you through November and the first draft of your novel.  You can plan as little or as much as you think you need to, and if necessary include other elements as you need them.

If there are certain elements which play heavily into your novel then you need to make sure that you plan for those as well.

Do you world build for your novels? What’s your process?

Good thoughts and happy writing
